The Health Check has detected that applications are enabled but not running, please check the status of the NOM.INI.
When an ENPS server is running, the processes required to run and be monitored by the Watch process are enabled within the NOM.INI file.
The NOM.INI file is located on the data drive in the NOM folder. Under the "[Watch]" sub-section, a number of application names are listed followed by a value of "0" or "1". Zero is used to disable the application whereas one enables it. Once the Watch process is running it then knows what applications to monitor and restart should an issue occur.
[Watch]
NOM=1
NWP=1
Maint=1
Extract=0
Buddy=1
In this configuration; Watch will start and monitor: News Object Manager (NOM), Wire Profiler (NWP), Maintenance (Maint) and the buddy process (Buddy) as they all have a "1". The extraction process is disabled due to the "0".
An error with reported where the applications are not running can also indicate that a server has not "auto" logged in.
When the Health Check is run, it reads the NOM.INI and then checks that the process is running. If the Watch process is running, and one of the enabled processes is not running, there is clearly an issue as the process is not able to start. The process maybe corrupt or an associated process missing, corrupt or not registeded, the server running out of resources or the process has been deleted.
A recommended solution is to try and run the process manually, if this is not possible, the first recommendation would be to restart the server and reaccess. Note: if the server you are restarting is the Primary Server, make sure you are able to bring the NOM up in Block mode until the buddy queue empties.
If that does not resolve the issue, contact the AP ENPS Helpdesk.
NOTE: If you have any questions, please contact AP ENPS Support before making changes to the HealthCheck configurations.
There are thresholds set within \configurables\hc-custom_config.ps1. With the default being:
$global:HC_ENPS_INI = 1 # Process enabled in NOM.INI (Default: 1)
