The Health Check has reported that the size limit for external files has been breached.
ENPS, ENPS Mobile and Playbook have functionality, if enabled, that allows for a number of file formats to be uploaded for reference. The file types are excluded from this check, the primary focus is on the accumulated size of the uploaded files.
This size could have an impact on the overall available space on the data volume. If the data volume (usually either D: or F: drive) fills up, that will likely cause data corruption.
There are two ways to remove unwanted external files.
1. Using the ENPS client, they can be deleted all or some of the objects where they exist.
2. Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the data drive, usually F: or D: and click on the <primary server name> folder
Click on the "ExtFile" folder
Search the content of the folder for
"*.*". This will return all objects. If you wish only to remove a certain type of file, change the second * to the file extension. For example, to list all PDFs, the format will be "*.pdf".
Once the results are returned, click on the "Date Modified" column to sort by date and time. You may select how many files to remove - by size or by age.
As ENPS does not maintain these objects, it is recommeded to move the oldest objects to a new location off the server. The should be retained for a period in case they are required to be restored.
Alternately, if there is still a large amount of free space on the disk drives, the size of the data drive could be increased. However, this may only delay the need to manage the stored files.
As a
reminder, any file management would have
to be done on both servers. Once complete, perform a Solr reindex.
Open a Command window and navigate to the data drive and the "SearchServer" folder
Execute "SearchCrawler.exe" or "SearchCrawler.exe /syncstorage:true" (they perform the same function). If your data drive is the F: drive, the command would be: F:\SearchServer\SearchCrawler.exe.
NOTE: If you have any questions, please contact AP ENPS Support before making changes to the HealthCheck configurations.
There are thresholds set within \configurables\hc-custom_config.ps1. With the default being:
[int]$global:HC_ExtFile_Threshold = 25 # Total Size of Acceptable External Files (GB) (Default: 25)
