The Health Check has determined that one or more storage volumes has less free space remaning that the threshold set. This can be either a warning or a critical state.
For all servers, disk space is required to save newly created, uploaded or ingested objects as well as run the operating system and any programs. For Mobile servers there is no storage requirement as they display objects from the ENPS server, effectively acting as a gateway but again is needed for the system to run.
As per the ENPS Operations Guide, there are recommendations when deploying a server in relation to disk configurations. However over the course of being used, the allocated space may run out for a number of reasons.
The Healthcheck ensures that all disks on the systems are within the thresholds as if they run out, a number of issues can arise with the primary issue being data corruption.
To resolve space issues a technician has a number of options. They can remove old or unwanted files from the affected drive. Allternatively, the drive can be extended to provide more space.
One method is to run a command line which will look for files over a certain size. For example, one the affected drive the following could be run to list the files over 1MB in size: forfiles /S /M * /C "cmd /c if @fsize GEQ 1048576 echo @path"
A common issue is that unwanted log files are being retained. Two recommended locations to check are c:\inetpub\logs and the subfolders for aging log files or c:\system32\winevt\logs for "archive" log files.
NOTE: If you have any questions, please contact AP ENPS Support before making changes to the HealthCheck configurations.
There are thresholds set within \configurables\hc-custom_config.ps1. With the default being:
[int]$global:HC_DiskSpace_Critical = 5 # Percent of disk space remaining before critical sent (Default: 5)
[int]$global:HC_DiskSpace_Warning =20 # Percent of disk space remaining before warning sent (Default: 20)
[int]$global:HC_DiskSpace_Increments = 5 # Threshold increments in percent (Default: 5)
